According to the Institute for Women’s Policy Research (IWPR), the District of Columbia also ranks first in the nation for the median annual earnings of women working full-time, year-round at $42,400. In addition to having 30% of businesses women-owned, D.C. has consistently topped lists for the female-male wage ratio since 1996.
