The nation’s capital has the highest rate (52.5%) of women employed in managerial or professional occupations.

According to the Institute for Women’s Policy Research (IWPR), the District of Columbia also ranks first in the nation for the median annual earnings of women working full-time, year-round at $42,400. In addition to having 30% of businesses women-owned, D.C. has consistently topped lists for the female-male wage ratio since 1996.
